Gifted and Talented student (GT) means a child or youth who performs or shows potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:

• exhibits high-performance capability in an intellectual, creative or artistic area
• possesses an unusual capacity for leadership
• excels in a specific academic field

(Section 29.121 Texas Education Code)

Malakoff ISD provides instruction for Gifted and Talented students at the campus level. If you suspect your child may meet the requirement to be identified as a gifted and talented student, contact your child’s campus counselor.
